Literacy Centers should always be rigorous and engaging. Having a variety of literacy rich activities and lessons to support English Language Arts is crucial to academic achievement. Students that have the opportunity to listen to books at a listening center benefit immensely. They are exposed to literacy rich experiences that include a variety of genres. Students are learning about fairy tales, folk takes, and informational texts. They learn about the world around them and make connections. Most important, students are supported with modeled reading fluency, and new vocabulary development, while enjoying a text. I like to inspire all of my students to be life long readers because I know it will make them successful.
