My Project

These decodable books are colorful, engaging, and fun to read. My students like the adventures of the interesting characters and learn critical phonics skills and experience the joy of reading. This set includes a particular focus on CVCe words and vowel team spellings.

Decodable books align with explicit, systematic phonics instruction.

They are interesting stories consisting of phonetically decodable words. They use letters and letter groups that students have learned in previous phonics lessons. Each stage introduces new sounds while supporting previously taught phonics skills and high-frequency words.

Decodable books support all students, allowing them to focus closely on the sounds in words. This discourages students from guessing at unknown words and relying too heavily on pictures.

My students need decodable books to practice reading phonics patterns in text. Decodable books, written focusing on a particular phonetic design or word family, can help students increase their fluency and automaticity of reading words. I plan to use decodable readers in a small group setting to teach my students to decode words with specific phonics patterns.

The repeated readings of decodable books help readers recognize words with phonics patterns and read those words fluently.
