My Students

My class is made up of self-contained deaf and hard-of-hearing students ranging from third to fifth grade. Like many kids today, they are really interested in electronics, video games, and most recently robots! I am excited to see how we can make learning fun and engaging using robots in our classroom. My students love anything that is hands on and I believe they will benefit from learning how to apply their knowledge and skills to make this robot move.

We are a high poverty, public school in a rural area of Florida.

My Project

My students need a Dash and Dot robot to experience coding and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in a fun, engaging way. My students have already used a coding website and have begun to learn coding. Now they need an opportunity to apply that knowledge to something that they can make move. Dash and Dot will help my students understand the cause and effect relationship of coding and computer programming through the use of the Wonder Workshop apps.

As I prepare my students for the skills they need to compete in this 21st-century job market, having proficient skills in the areas of STEM are more crucial than ever.
