My Project

I am teaching a small group of first graders struggling to master transferring their letter-sound knowledge into reading simple words (CVC stands for consonant-vowel-consonant words, such as pig). This foundational skill is the entry point of reading and will awaken fluency and confidence in reading, yet it needs to be interactive and engaging to make the necessary repetition with the skills meaningful and attention-grabbing. These letter games and manipulatives, such as the twisting letter cubes, letter Magna-Tiles, and letter hunting tongs, will make the kids eager to explore and apply their knowledge and excited to come back for the next day's activities too!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
