Kindergarten is an amazing grade to teach! Each child comes in with their own set of skills and we work hard to build on that! My students love school and love learning! They are so excited about science and social studies and are born inventors! They love art, music, and of course, play time!
My students are intelligent, kind, curious, inventive, outgoing, and creative!
It's truly wonderful to see the progression of kindergarten students who are learning letters and sounds at the beginning of the school year and are now reading books! We work on learning to write numbers in September and they are now counting to one hundred!
More than one-third of my students come from low income households. This can make buying supplies difficult for some families, but we will do everything we can to make sure everyone has what they need for a successful year! This school year is very different and we've had a lot of changes, however, I will do everything to make it fantastic experience for my kindergarten class!
My Project
The display cart will assist in teaching my classroom reading, writing, and math skills. My students learn best through imagination and inspiration. We will use the white board cart to teach whole group lessons at the carpet center. My students would benefit greatly from having our whole group lessons taught at the carpet area all together, rather then spread out in the classroom at tables and chairs. Having a moveable white board cart with all my teaching supplies ready in buckets would be amazing because my students are more engaged and ask more questions at the whole group carpet center. When we are closer together, we can learn more easily from each other.
“Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin
My students will use the phonics games and stamp set in small group activities to reinforce reading skills taught in whole group lessons. We will use the mini books to write our own stories and share them with friends and family. We will use the math measurement activity center to learn a measurement and parts of a whole. The we use the engineer a costar center to teach cause, effect, and help foster problem solving skills. We will use the dinosaurs in our dramatic play center and to help students learn the difference between different types of dinosaurs. We will use the design a building water blocks to build and make discoveries at the water table. We will use the art and play supplies to give students the opportunity to create, use their imaginations, and enhance their fine motor skills.
