This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is home to a diverse population of students, including many who are English language learners. While our garden serves as a valuable outdoor classroom for science lessons and hands-on learning experiences, we've identified a need to make this space more accessible to LEP students.

Currently, the lack of seating options in the garden limits students' ability to fully engage with lessons and activities.

To address this need, we're seeking funding to purchase wooden garden benches. These benches will provide comfortable seating for our students during garden lessons, enabling them to actively participate and engage with the curriculum.

By creating a designated space for students within the garden, we aim to promote inclusivity and ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive academically.

Comfortable seating will encourage students to actively engage with the curriculum, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific concepts and environmental stewardship. By investing in the needs of all students, we're sending a powerful message of inclusivity and respect for diversity within our school community.

Having access to a supportive learning environment where they can actively participate and engage with the curriculum can empower students and boost their confidence. As they develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, they gain a sense of accomplishment and self-efficacy, which positively impacts their social-emotional well-being.
