My students recently used the markers, paints, and dotters to complete a colorful butterfly art project, where they explored patterns, symmetry, and creativity. The new Elmo projector has been especially impactful—not only do I use it to model drawing techniques, but I also present lessons under the camera so students can clearly follow along step by step. I have also used it for students to share their work with the class, which has made presentations more engaging and meaningful. The rolling desk has made a big difference as well, allowing me to adjust the height and move closer to the projector so all students can easily see and participate.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were incredibly excited. Their faces lit up as we opened the donations together, and they couldn't wait to start using everything. The enthusiasm carried right into our lessons, especially during the butterfly project, where they eagerly experimented with the new tools. Moving forward, we plan to continue incorporating these materials into more hands-on art and interactive lessons. Students will use the projector to present their ideas and projects, while the art supplies will support future creative units. These resources are helping make learning more engaging, collaborative, and fun for everyone in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768910753593,"projectUrl":"project/from-creativity-to-connection/10043507/","projectTitle":"From Creativity to Connection","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Avila","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9592039"},{"teacherId":10413710,"projectId":10046704,"letterContent":"My students have been loving all of the new materials, and we've already started using them every day during centers. One of my favorite moments was during our phonics time. The students were using the CVC word-building activities, and one of my nonverbal students was able to independently build a word using the magnetic letters. Usually, he needs a lot of prompting, so seeing him do that on his own was really special.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw everything, they were so excited. The sensory chair was the first thing they noticed, and it's quickly become a great tool for my students who need movement breaks. It's been helping them calm their bodies and come back ready to learn. The magnets and building sets were also a huge hit students were working together, building, and staying engaged for longer periods of time than usual.\r\n\r\nWe're going to keep building on our phonics skills by moving from simple CVC words to putting together short sentences using the hands-on materials. I also plan to use the building toys more intentionally during math time to work on problem-solving and social skills like sharing and taking turns. Your donation has already made a meaningful impact on my students' learning, and I am so grateful for your kindness.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the three whiteboards every single day, especially during writing and math. In writing, the whiteboards have helped us stay organized as we move through each step of the writing process. Students use them to plan, draft, and revise their ideas in a clear and structured way. The magnets have been especially powerful in building metacognition. Each student moves their name from \"drafting\" to \"typing\" to \"editing\" and finally to \"done.\" This simple system has helped them become more aware of their progress and take ownership of their work.\r\n\r\nWe have also used the whiteboards during our math lessons, particularly while learning fractions. Students love being able to visually model their thinking, share their strategies, and make quick corrections. It has made learning more interactive, engaging, and fun.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were so excited and immediately eager to use them. They truly understand that these resources came from generous donors, and they were incredibly appreciative. You will see in the attached photos that they are giving a big thumbs up to say thank you. The whiteboards and magnets are also featured in the photos so you can see them in action!\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using these tools to deepen our writing skills and strengthen our understanding of math concepts like fractions. These resources will remain an important part of our daily learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and making a difference in my students' education. Your gift of test-taking dividers, classroom door decorations, class jobs decorations, schedule display, cursive/letter display, a storage cart, storage bins for math manipulatives, science activity trays, fidget pens, and stamps has already made a real difference for our students and our daily learning.\r\n\r\nHow we're using the materials\r\n\r\nTest-taking dividers: We use these during quizzes and benchmark assessments to give students private, focused workspace — reducing anxiety and improving concentration.\r\nStorage cart and bins: All of our math manipulatives and science supplies are now sorted and easy to access, so transitions are faster and lessons run smoothly.\r\nScience activity trays: Each tray holds everything students need for experiments, so hands-on labs (like our recent magnet and simple machines stations) flow without delays.\r\n\r\nCursive/letter display and schedule display: These visuals support literacy and classroom routines; students reference them independently during writing time and transitions.\r\n\r\nClass jobs decorations and door decorations: These help build ownership and pride in our classroom community.\r\n\r\nFidget pens and stamps: Fidget pens calm students who need sensory support during independent work; stamps are used for positive reinforcement and to celebrate growth.\r\n\r\nA specific moment\r\nRecently, we used our science trays to make clay monsters, as part of a broader lesson on inheritance and traits. Additionally, we use the math manipulatives bin every day. The materials are rotated to stay relevant, but students always know where to look if they are struggling.\r\n\r\nStudent reactions\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students cheered at the bright door decorations and lined up to help arrange the storage cart and bins. They loved having their own space during quizzes with the dividers and immediately noticed how much easier it was to concentrate. The cursive display has become a favorite reference during writing time, and the stamps bring daily joy and motivation.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful you helped create a more organized, supportive, and joyful learning environment. Several of them had never used tools like fraction tiles or base ten blocks before, so there was a lot of curiosity and excitement. During one of our first lessons, we used fraction tiles to practice equivalent fractions. I had students working in small groups, and it was really powerful to see some of my struggling students finally \"get it.\" They were lining up the tiles, comparing sizes, and explaining their thinking to each other in a way I hadn't seen before. With the base ten blocks, students have been building numbers and modeling decimal problems, which has made a big difference in helping them understand place value. The mobile whiteboard has also been a huge hit—they love being able to move around, draw out their thinking, and share with the class.\r\n\r\nWe've started using these tools regularly during math time, especially in small groups. Students are beginning to choose what helps them, whether that's grabbing fraction tiles to solve a problem or using blocks to check their work. One moment that really stood out was when a group used the whiteboard to show how they solved a decimal addition problem. Each student added something to the explanation, and they were able to talk through their thinking in a way that made sense to everyone else.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're continuing to build on these skills by working on more complex fraction and decimal problems. The goal is for students to not just get the right answer, but to really understand how and why it works. These materials are helping them slow down, think it through, and explain their reasoning. I'm already seeing more confidence, especially from students who used to shut down during math. Thank you for helping make that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768528299136,"projectUrl":"project/math-you-can-touch-tiles-blocks-and-a/10018031/","projectTitle":"Math You Can Touch: Tiles, Blocks, and a Board!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mack Moray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10403756"},{"teacherId":9306272,"projectId":10016858,"letterContent":"My students and I are using the materials throughout the day during different subjects.
