My students have faced a tremendous amount of hardship in the past year and a half, due to Hurricane Harvey. All of my students are exposed to daily struggles such as coming from low economic households, being diagnosed as Dyslexic and English Language Learners. This has all caused many setbacks in their work abilities. School is a safe haven for my students and I try my best every day to provide them with the resources they need to succeed. However, we still lack many tools needed to supplement their learning experience.
The odds have been stacked against my students; however, they still manage to persevere and make me proud each and every day.
They are a bright and driven group of children. I feel so blessed to be their teacher and hope to make a lasting impression on their lives!
My Project
Being able to integrate technology into my students' education is a goal of mine every day. Listening to audiobooks while following along with written text can bridge the gap between decoding words and understanding vocabulary.
My Dyslexic and English Language Learners will benefit from word recognition and the development of higher comprehension skills through the use of technology daily.
Amazon Fire tablets will help my class reach our 60 minute technology goal each week, Accelerated Reader goals, as well as increasing self-esteem and confidence. I would be able to work more in small groups, while the rest of my class is occupied learning through technology. By having access to technology at the touch of a button, I will be able to transform my students' learning tremendously. It is my goal to provide my students as much access to technology as possible!
