My Project

I was so excited to learn about the collaboration of the Allstate Foundation and Service Stars Mission of the Month. I believe that small gestures go a long way and want to instill that in my third grade students. They are amazing, compassionate, and love to help others. This is the perfect project for them!!

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

The Service Stars Mission of the Month for January is “Promote Wellness.” The materials in this project will be used to create colorful, inspirational, and encouraging cards for our local hospital and health center. I want my students to understand the influence they can have on others by completing even the simplest of tasks. We will discuss how a smile, small note, and/or encouraging comment can have a HUGE impact on brightening someone's day and provide the motivation needed to overcome obstacles. It is important to know that someone is thinking of you and cares. They love art and helping others-what a great combination!!
