My Project

Our students come to school carrying unique experiences, emotions, strengths, and challenges. Even our youngest learners are working hard to learn how to solve problems, express feelings appropriately, build friendships, and navigate a busy world that can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Our students are curious, resilient, and full of potential, and they deserve supportive spaces and caring tools that help them feel safe, understood, and ready to grow into their best selves.They thrive when they feel safe, supported, and understood.

These Safe Place resources will support all learners across our school community, including students in our special education classrooms, life skills program, and behavior support spaces. Our students will benefit from intentional regulation supports, sensory tools, visual calming strategies, and predictable safe spaces that help them navigate emotions, transitions, communication, and learning successfully throughout the school day.

Comfortable seating will provide students with safe spaces to reset and regulate when emotions feel too big. Visual timers will help students manage transitions, build independence, and reduce anxiety around routines and expectations.Regulation tools such as sensory supports, breathing resources, and fidgets will help students practice healthy coping strategies and return to learning successfully. The carrying case will serve as a portable calm kit filled with regulation tools, ensuring that every space, even the office, can provide a safe and supportive opportunity for emotional regulation when students need it most.

Creating Safe Places within our classrooms gives students a comforting space that is theirs when emotions feel overwhelming, while also giving teachers intentional opportunities to guide children in practicing the lifelong coping skills, emotional awareness, and resilience. It begins with our youngest learners today and will continue to support them for years to come.

Our little world changers deserve a classroom where they feel safe enough to learn, grow, and be themselves!
