The students of River Mill Academy are drawn from a lottery process to attend the school. Many of the students come from various schools, towns, and background settings. The lottery is a "luck of the draw" process. There are no limitations when it comes to attending our school.
The students that have exceptional needs, IEP's and 504 plans are the students that I work with directly.
I complete their paperwork individually based on his/her needs. By doing this, I can also help inform the regular education teachers of modifications and accommodations that each child needs.
I work with Middle School and High School students with all ranges of disabilities, cognitive skills, backgrounds and delays. My job is to help close the gap that the student has to allow them to be at grade level with his/her peers.
These students can also range in educational learning. I have auditory, visual, kinetic and tactile students. Finding their individual way of learning, while also organizing them and preparing them for the upcoming assignments is crucial in their success.
My Project
These materials would give my students access to technology that will help them create projects, assignments and complete CORE classroom work.
With access of this technology, my students will have access to materials that will allow them to submit work at the same level as their non-disabled peers.
This technology will help close the gap of their individual educational disabilities. These computers will give them access to numerous references, as well as learning computer skills that are necessary to create assignments. Examples of work include science fair projects, history presentations, research projects, brochures, calendars, timelines and biographies. We thank you.
