Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are now a combination of English speakers and English language learners that want to become bilingual. They are just beginning to learn to read, write, and count in both languages. My students will be exposed to the material in English and Spanish. Our school is a Title I. I have to lend them books so their parents can read to them at home.
My students are energetic and curious learners.
They are learning to develop their own opinions. They enjoy finding patterns and playing card games that develop their mental math and subitizing skills.
My Project
An all-access membership to Pixton EDU will allow students to create comic book adventures. With this membership, students will have access to additional backgrounds, characters, and themed content packs.
Students who can't write yet can use the microphone feature.
This allows students to record their voice and the computer inputs what the characters in the comics would say. Students will learn about storytelling through comics. They can use these to express themselves. They can also write comics that relate to our learning during language arts or other subject areas. The comics will also allow for further discussions that may stem from social-emotional learning. The students will use the stylus pens when they draw in the coding app Scratch Jr. or work on assignments in SeeSaw.
