My students need access to a printer so they can print research they have found and having writing materials needed in order to complete an assignment.
My class this year will be made up of very eager and enthusiastic twenty four fourth graders. The goal of this school year is for them to really engage in their learning and enjoy each day. I want them to take ownership of their learning and walk away from a school day being excited about what they learned that day! By providing students with simple supplies like markers just makes the routines run smoothly. I enjoy interactive lessons where the students come up to the board and write or answer a math equation. In order to do so we need an excess of markers etc. In the fourth grade it is important to start building independence in students and by trusting them with supplies is just the beginning.
My Project
I would love to be able to print off materials, examples, pictures and research for my students in my own classroom. Many times lessons change because we don't have access to technology. Also there are many times with English Language Learners where pictures are really helpful when it comes to learning new vocabulary. If I can print off color photos it will help them truly understand the new unknown words. Additionally, when creating examples for the students it is important to create anchor charts with chart paper and markers. I believe the more color the better because then the students remember it because it made an impression. Also, students can create their own projects using these supplies like glue and makers. It is important for students to interactive with one another and work together in groups. Giving students access to basic supplies that can be used in projects takes away the stress of not having what you need.
