Creating an Inclusive Environment

Help me give my students a printer, area rug, seating, and more. Help me give them a diverse classroom environment that enhances learning and engagement, trying to reach each learner’s different learning style.

My Project

This year, my students struggled with staying in their seat and staying on task. My idea of how to fix this is by creating flexible seating in the classroom. My goal is to have a rug with different cushions, surrounded by desk with non traditional chairs, that get the wiggles out of the students. I have noticed that my students tend to focus better when they have the bumps on them, so I would love to increase the amount available for my students next year.

I would also like to introduce in-class challenges, which lead to greater student engagement.

For example when they finish a certain amount of books, or writing warm ups, they can spin the wheel for a prize or snack. I would also like to increase the posters in my room to better support student learning and that can be made possible through a color printer.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
