I teach in a Title I school where all our students receive free breakfast, lunch and after-school snack. We promote a positive school and learning environment through PBIS and our school community challenges students to think and perform at high levels and exhibit positive character values.
My students are all so eager to learn and willing to work hard!
I teach reading and math to 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. I love my job because it's rewarding to know I'm helping children become fluent readers and more confident with their math skills.
My Project
I teach in a very large classroom with a cement floor. I would love to add a colorful, warm, inviting and educational carpet to the room. My students will be able to sit on the carpet when silent reading, reading with a partner or practicing math facts with flash cards.
I'd also like to provide more wobble stools for my students to sit on, because studies show that students who have the ability to wiggle and move while working experience increased productivity.
Wobble chairs are also a good resource for students with ADD. My two educational assistants and I have our own table and chairs. So far, I've replaced one set of chairs with red wobble stools, so these purple stools will replace another set of old-fashioned student chairs.
