My Project

I want to create a print-rich classroom that will draw students to a love of reading paperback books. As a child, I loved being read to by my teachers. As we have moved to a digital age, the books are all available on screen, but I want to have a classroom full of books, where students and I can pause and discuss the the different elements of the book.

As kindergarteners, my students are developing a love of reading.

I can see their engagement as we read paper books and I can see their disengagement as they sit in front of a screen and watch someone reading to them. I want to cultivate a love for reading printed books, allowing them to pause and admire the illustrations and work through the pages to create a love of printed books.
