This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school I work at has an amazing group of staff and students who attend here. Teaching music, I get to build my experience seeing all grade levels and teaching them about music notes, instruments, counting music notes, and vocabulary of reading music.

The students who I see come from all different types of families as I teach at a Title 1 school.

Some of the students have never been given the chance to play or see instruments, read music or understand music.

Each day is a new day and I try my best to teach the students what is important so that they can make decisions that might lead into extra curricular activities of music or a career of music.

My Project

Having these acoustic guitars in my music class will allow the students to learn how to play these guitars, it will allow the students to present their music during concerts or talent shows, and it would allow students to have a background knowledge of playing a guitar as they move onto middle school and high school.

Many of the 500 plus students I see each day, do not get this kind of opportunity to see, practice, or play these instruments.

This would allow all of the students to become familiar with how to play a guitar and lead them into future life decisions with music being involved.
