My Project

All children are musicians at heart! Music is best taught through hands-on experiences. These percussion instruments will put music into my students' hands for memorable experiences. Hand drums and triangles may seem simple, but the joy a 7-year-old feels when they have them in their hands is where the love of making music begins.

Having a variety of instruments in an elementary music classroom allows students to explore sound and make choices.

Using different sounds we can compose music by creating patterns. We can reinforce the steady beat. We can write sound stories. We can explore the music of different cultures-- the possibilities are endless!

Our school is a publicly funded charter school. Located in the rapidly-expanding valley, SGCS’ students come from 14 public school districts to create a

population that is unique, diverse, and historically underserved. With the expansion of our organization and the acquisition of our new learning campus in the Fall of 2022, SGCS will be able to provide a quality educational option for more families in the area. Students participating in the free and reduced lunch program in 2022 are

32%. The school’s enrollment numbers have climbed from 86% capacity in 2019 to grade levels at full capacity and waitlists currently of 75 students. SGCS is providing opportunities for students to learn in and about

our community and throughout our local environment.
