My Project

Every year, we travel to the woods near Asheboro, NC to teach students lessons in leadership. Twelve student counselors will plan and implement a 3-day event in which the lives of 70 students who attend SSS are transformed. Students learn about themselves as leaders, learn about others, and learn that though they all have differences, they are not as different as they think. We laugh through parody songs, cry through tough lessons and burning grudges and barriers, eat amazing food, and learn what it means to be a self-aware, servant leader. It is an absolutely incredible time and students get a lot out of the weekend.

Next year, we want our students to have the necessary supplies to maximize learning throughout the weekend.

This project will take care of the art supplies needed to allow them to express their creativity throughout the weekend. Students will use the art supplies to create projects that represent themselves and show who they are as people. Students will use pipe cleaners, mat boards, markers, wood slices, beads, wood cut outs, and more to design projects that represent themselves.
