Cozy Reading Spaces for Up and Coming Readers!

My Project

A nice, relaxing reading environment helps foster the desire to cozy up with a new book and explore other worlds of stories and knowledge. My first grade class is just starting the school year, and one of their major focuses is starting to read and work by themselves. A soft rug in the classroom library would make for an excellent place to have a cozy reading session. Scoop chairs would be a great alternate reading option for those who would like to find their own space. Bouncy ball seats would help my students with extra energy to be able to move around while reading. All of these provide a new space for my students to either read or work.

First graders are on the first step of their reading journey, and I want to give them the kind of reading environment that will make them want to keep reading, both this year and into the future.

My students are just beginning to start their class readers, and they always have the option to read after finishing work early. We have also begun to use flexible seating, and they are so much more motivated to work and read when they have special places around the classroom to go. The products that I have chosen will help create this environment by giving them more freedom of seating options, and the choice to go somewhere other than their desks.

I love how student voice and choice makes them more inclined to take charge of their own learning and work independently. Having these options would help to further motivate my class to be the best readers and thinkers that they can be!
