Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are so amazing and come to school excited to learn and work on robotics projects. Due to COVID-19, we have been forced to remote learn online. New York City department of education has handed out tablets to those students who are in need and do not have access to technology at home. My school is considered

title 1 and mostly all of the students come from low income homes.

My teaching subject is very difficult to do online because it is all hands-on learning. If I had the technology at home, I could teach students my students from home more effectively.

My Project

Currently, I don’t have the ability to zoom with my students because my laptop that I am using is not equipped to do so. If I am able to achieve this goal of getting a new laptop, then I can zoom with my students to show them how to code interactively. Students can download the coding software app for free and I could teach my robotics coding virtually. This would be very beneficial since we have no idea how long this pandemic will last in Staten Island nor when I will be able to see my students again. All teachers are trying to make the best of this extremely tough situation!
