My Project

I plan to use the Teacher Pay Teachers gift cards to help supplement my current curriculum. I can find center ideas to help students with hands on learning. Students do not learn best by sitting and listening to teachers teach from a book. Research shows that children learn best when they are exploring and doing things themselves. Teachers Pay Teachers have centers and curriculum that has been tested in actual classrooms by teachers themselves.

Children have fun while learning when they are doing hands on activities.

Exploring while learning is what is best for students. It saves valuable time by finding activities that have already been made instead of trying to make them myself. I also like supporting other teachers by purchasing these items through them. I have found that most curriculums do not contain the fun learning factor that they need to succeed in learning. If we do not make learning fun, kids will shut down. In this age of children having so much screen time to entertain them, it is hard for us to compete for their time.

It is amazing how having a center activity where they can take a mat that has a large letter printed on it and use play-doh to create that letter keeps students attention and helps them retain the information they are learning by using the kinetic of building the letter along with visually seeing and saying the letter. The same goes with building a math sentence with building blocks and then writing the answers with a dry erase markers on a math sentence frame that was purchased, printed out and laminated to be used over and over for learning.
