This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach a rambunctious group of students with special needs. My students are sometimes a bit rowdy, but oh, so much fun. Their personalities shine through every day. While they have challenges, they are such a joy. They are growing and developing every day.
The items in this project will allow my students to continue to grow as well as have fun.
While my students use them, they will also have the opportunity to learn to use their hands more effectively. The paint sticks and crayons will allow them to learn colors and how they go together to create masterpieces. They will learn to draw lines and circles and then color them in to get the desired outcome. As they “play” with modeling clay, my students will develop hand strength and finger isolation. The paper allows them to work on helping their hands to work together more effectively as we work on folding specific ways in some of our crafts. We will even eventually learn to cut out things from the paper.
