My students need a refrigerator for our cooking instruction which is part of our life skills curriculum.

My Students

Imagine trying to do a healthy cooking curriculum but having no refrigerator to keep the health food in! Our *sometimes* functional fridge is not working anymore.

My students are all amazing young adults with Autism.

They are Cambodian, Black and Mexican-American. Each one is incredibly unique. They all have different areas of expertise from diet Pepsi and cleaning products to every James Bond movie ever made, but have a great amount of difficulty accessing the general education curriculum at the same level as their peers. They all have parents who work so hard to ensure their children reach their full potential. We live in California, in a cash strapped school district that doesn't always supply us with the necessary tools to reach our goals.

My Project

With a refrigerator in the classroom we will be able to work more on independent life skills. Where our portable is located on the schools campus it is difficult to use the kitchen's (and also against food health and safety regulations) fridge. Your donation of a refrigerator would be an amazing addition and really expand the possibilities for multiple components of the life skills curriculum. We could keep ice in the fridge and learn first aide, we could finally cook meat!
