My Project

High school students love to compete and win prizes. Competition promotes teamwork and helps students learn how to communicate with their peers. My students love to work together, but sometimes they have a hard time focusing on the task at hand.

Student engagement can be increased by offering small prizes for jobs well done.

The supplies I am requesting will be used when my Earth science classes build model rockets, electric vehicles, wind turbines, and other devices that require them to work with a team and then compete with their classmates for the best design.

The prizes that will be given will help students with academics because we use a lot of color and a lot of tape in our notebooks. High school students also love to snack, so Blow Pops and animal crackers can be great motivators as prizes for jobs well done. The mini ducks are just fun, and students love to have them!

Teachers Pay Teachers has a wide assortment of prize ribbon templates that can be used to show off the names and accomplishments of students. Having these hanging in class can encourage friendly class-to-class competition! Teachers Pay Teachers also has lots of review games that can be used in all classes to help students learn concepts while encouraging healthy competition.
