My Project

Our second graders have been working hard this year! Not only have they been focused on their literacy, math, science and social studies goals, they have also been supporting each other as a classroom community! Unfortunately, it has been very hot in Oakland, California, and even hotter in our small west-facing, second floor classroom. Usually we love working in a sun-filled room, but the hot air gets stuck, and the temperature in our classroom continues to climb. Although Fall is upon us, it looks like we have at least several more hot days on the horizon, and then will again face the same temperature challenges in the Spring.

Our students have already grown so much as learners, but it is challenging for them to concentrate in a hot classroom.

An air conditioner would really help our second graders concentrate on their academic and social-emotional goals, rather than how hot it is.

Thank you in advance for your support! We are grateful.
