Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We live in a densely populated, urban city with lots of concrete and pavement. Our building is also concrete, metal, and brick, but somehow the students' creativity still thrives. It must be because of their imaginations!

My students do their best work in the media center.

It is the place where they can learn just about anything. My students often wonder about the gritty surroundings of our neighborhood and ask questions about the scenery and noise throughout the day. Despite the drab surroundings, my students are inquisitive and creative.

My Project

Students who know how to prepare their own meals positively impacts their vegetable preferences, improves their attitudes around cooking, and increases their confidence in their cooking skills. Additionally, cooking and baking helps students advance their education. Our school has a culinary program and students are always looking to "cook" up something new. By following a recipe, students are enhancing their reading comprehension. And after following the recipe, they get to eat something delicious. Our students are curious about cultures and countries around the world. Enjoying and learning about cuisines connects us with each other. Through cooking, students will discover so many similarities between each other. Creating and eating are just simple ways to share in humanity and humility, something we can all engage in more together.
