Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school believes that literacy is the heart of education. It is so fundamental to learning that its importance in our school cannot be overstated.
My class consists of 24 amazing students.
They are energetic, unique, happy 2nd graders. They come into my classroom with different characteristics, skills and life experiences. These differences help us to build a cohesive and collaborative classroom community. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have learners that are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
Each month we have a literacy night, where parents and students come after school and create something together to enhance the home school connection. Every November, we create a thanksgiving placemate. The students and parents make placemats by weaving construction paper. Then they place questions on their mates that they can ask family members while eating The construction paper that I am requesting will be used for this project. If there is any construction paper from this night we will use for the end of the year literacy night where we decorate the whole school for parents to visit and see what we have been learning.
