We were able to complete much more than we originally planned for. \r\n Our first project for the year was weaving potholders. Some students grasped the idea quickly while others needed much more time to understand the concept. They students who understood the concept helped the struggling ones. \r\nOur second project was knitting using a hat loom. Students chose the size and colors of yarn. About half of the class has finished. Some kids found it relaxing while others found it draining due to the repetition. The sizes of the hats ranged from tiny dog hats to adult sized. One student has enjoyed it so much, she has spent every lunch and recess in the art room since before Winter. In total she has made 7 hats. \r\nOur third project has been started by a few while the rest finish on the loom. The basics of crochet have begun with simple chains and one student now building a teddy bear. My 3rd grade students are seeing the creativity from 4th and 5th and can't wait till they can start their own projects in Textile group next year. Some of third grade is getting a hint at textiles through sock donuts.\r\nYou have helped my students understand that there is more to art then just drawing and painting.","fullyFundedDate":1730924246031,"projectUrl":"project/teaching-textile-skills/8509721/","projectTitle":"Teaching Textile Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sperger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3967513_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1647409154004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-sperger-artishealing"},{"teacherId":6083419,"projectId":8435252,"letterContent":"Thank you for your kindness and generosity in funding my project \"Basic School Supplies Needed.\" I work in a title school.
