My Project

Many of our students love to read and create comics, manga, graphic novels, and heavily illustrated books. They love to draw and bring their imaginations to life on paper! Many of them come in to the library during their lunches to work on their sketchbooks or draw in their journals. We have several books about how to create your own comics and perfect your illustration techniques, but almost all of them feature the acrylic pens that illustrators use in this industry. None of my students have ever tried these pens, so I wanted to provide them with a nice collection of professional art supplies so that they can develop their skills in drawing and illustration.

Allowing students the freedom to explore their artistic sides by creating art is an invaluable service.

Studies have shown that creating art improves mental and physical health by lowering stress hormones like cortisol, it boosts brain activity and blood flow to pleasure centers, it builds self-esteem, and it helps foster empathy and social connection. Whether students are creating cartoons, landscapes, portraits, or full panel scenes of a comic they can use these art supplies to create their artistic visions on paper.
