A group of students came into the library yesterday to play chess, and their friends who were learning gathered around to watch as the other two explained the pieces and their moves. Both of them promised to come back today and work on their new sketches some more. \r\n\r\nHaving a space where students can just take a few minutes and draw, sketch, and doodle is so valuable in the library. Young children love to draw, it is only as we get older that we start becoming critical of our art skills. I encourage the students to let go of their desire for realism and embrace the abstract, reminding them of all the cartoons, children's book illustrations, patterns, designs, and graphics they love and adore that are not \"realistic.\"\r\n\r\nWe sincerely appreciate your support of our school.
