What may seem like a simple appliance has become an essential tool that supports student learning, hands-on experiences, and program development every single day.\r\n\r\nIn our horticulture program, the refrigerator allows us to properly store flowers, plant materials, seeds, produce, and other perishable items used throughout our classes and greenhouse operations. Fresh floral arrangements created by students for events and competitions can now be preserved longer, allowing students to see the results of their hard work maintained at a professional standard. The refrigerator has also helped us store harvested produce from our greenhouse and garden projects safely, giving students more opportunities to learn about post-harvest handling, food preservation, and agricultural business practices.\r\n\r\nFor our animal science program, the refrigerator has become equally valuable. It provides safe storage for animal medications, vaccines, feed supplements, biological samples, and other materials necessary for proper animal care and instruction. Students are able to gain real-world experience with industry standards for animal health management and agricultural safety practices. Having reliable cold storage ensures that materials remain effective and safe to use, directly supporting the quality of education and hands-on training our students receive.\r\n\r\nBeyond the practical uses, this donation has helped create new opportunities for student growth and leadership. It has increased our ability to host events, complete projects, participate in competitions, and expand agricultural experiences for students who may not otherwise have access to these resources. The refrigerator supports not only the daily function of our programs, but also the confidence, responsibility, and career readiness of the students involved.\r\n\r\nThis generous donation has truly strengthened our chapter and enhanced the educational experiences we can provide. We recently used it during a hands-on lesson focused on proper food handling, temperature control, and safe food service practices. Students were able to practice heating and holding food at the correct temperatures while discussing food safety standards and customer service skills. This real-world experience helped bring our lesson to life in a way that textbooks alone never could.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the hot dog machine, they were beyond excited! Many of them had only seen this type of equipment in convenience stores, concession stands, or sporting events. It sparked conversations about entrepreneurship, food truck businesses, concession operations, and the importance of presentation and professionalism in the hospitality industry.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we plan to incorporate the hot dog machine into upcoming lessons on menu planning, cost control, and food service operations.
