Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

First Grade is a foundational year for building classroom community and developing social skills. One of the best ways to create a positive classroom community and provide opportunities to socialize is through time spent together on our classroom carpet.

Carpet time is used for reading stories, sharing thoughts and strategies with each other, brain breaks, learning, and so much more.

My students need a new classroom carpet so that each student will have their own specific place to sit and be a part of our classroom community. A new, spacious classroom carpet will truly provide opportunities to bring our students together more and foster those much needed social skills.

My students come to school every day with big smiles, open hearts, and eager minds. I am so proud of the effort the students make every day despite everything that they have experienced in their young lives. Our school community is located in a high-poverty area and the school is a safe haven for my students.
