Our school is in a rural county in Middle Tennessee. It is full of lots of generational families and more recently, we have had a lot more transient families move to our area. The cost of living is lower than the surrounding areas so we tend to draw lower income families.
Our students come to us needing a lot of enrichment but eager and excited to learn.
We have a very small public library that serves our county, but the majority of our students depend on our public schools to provide their reading materials and to motivate them to read. It thrills me to watch new readers emerge. I can tell who will be lifelong readers rather quickly. Some develop a passion for reading and for a certain genre at an early age.
Our students need comfortable places to work and read in our library. Our current tables wobble every time someone touches them - they are beyond repair. This makes writing almost impossible. They are also too small for some of our larger students. Our tables cause our students many frustrations. Please help our students have an area where they can write and read without the disruption of feeling as if their table is going to fall any minute. Help us make some of our larger students feel more comfortable sitting at these tables.
