This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My 3rd grade math and science students are full of life and excited to learn. They love working in small groups during guided math and science time each day which requires them to move about the classroom a lot. During small groups students are hardly ever at their desks. They are often on the floor.
My school is a Title I school, located in a rural, low income area.
74% of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunch. Because of budget cuts, classroom resources are limited. The funding of this project would allow me to better provide technology to my students to prepare them for the future!
My Project
As an adult, it is difficult to sit for more than an hour in a meeting at a table and chair. Children should not be expected to sit for hours on end at school each day in one spot. For this reason, I like to allow my students to move around and sit where it is most comfortable for them.
Right now my students only have two options.
These options are at a table or on the carpet. Funding this project would give my students a variety of seating options. They could sit on the floor with a lap desk, on a ball chair, stool, or cushion or pad anywhere in our classroom.
