My Project

My middle school social studies classroom is a space where students explore history, discuss current events, and build critical thinking skills about the world around them. Many of my students thrive when they feel safe, comfortable, and supported—but traditional classroom seating doesn’t always meet those needs.

I am requesting a comfortable couch to create a flexible seating area in my classroom.

This space will serve as a welcoming spot for students to engage in small group discussions, independent reading, and reflective activities connected to our social studies curriculum. Whether students are analyzing historical documents, participating in Socratic seminars, or working collaboratively on projects, having a comfortable place to sit can make a meaningful difference in their engagement and focus.

Middle school students are at a critical stage socially and emotionally. Providing a cozy, inclusive environment helps foster a sense of belonging and encourages students to take academic risks. This couch will also support students who may feel overwhelmed and benefit from a calmer, more relaxed space to regroup while staying connected to learning.

By creating a more flexible and inviting classroom environment, I can better meet the diverse needs of my students. This project is not just about furniture—it’s about building a classroom culture where students feel valued, comfortable, and ready to learn.
