Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over 87% percent of our school's population is at or below the poverty line. Due to this fact, many have experienced trauma and are unable to afford supplies to help them be successful in learning. Our school has approximately 35% English Language Learners. My classroom consists of Latino, Black, Asian, Pacific Islander, and White students. Some are refugees.

Our students love to learn, are loving and lovable, and deserve the chance to have the tools needed to help them successfully learn!

They are so proud when they understand a concept, and love to help each other, whether with classwork, tying shoes, or helping when a classmate is hurt or sick. They excel in empathy!

My Project

Over the last few years, we have increased the amount of technology used in the classroom. I have tried different listening devices with my students. I've learned certain kinds break easily, get tangled in several little knots, hurt my students ears on the outside or in the case of earbuds, hurt their ear canals. Students spend too much time trading their headphones for a different pair.

A quality set of headphones that emits sound clearly and are comfortable on my students ears lends to more learning with less distractions.

Having a quality set of headphones in the classroom, makes them last longer so subsequent classes can use them too.
