My students need a colorful, clean, comfortable area rug where they have their individual space to sit while they learn. Our carpet is so old, hard, deteriorated, and uncomfortable that students don't enjoy sitting there.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Intelligent, hard-working, dedicated, caring, Latino students that come to school with the biggest smile, eager to learn, and are very passionate about learning. They are really sweet and respectful students. At the end of a good story they clap. After recess when it is time to do math they cheer. At the end of the day, they make sure to say bye to me and wish me a nice evening or weekend. I can feel how grateful they are and how much they have been enjoying the beginning or 3rd grade. They charge me with energy to want to do more for them and make our classroom the best place they can be at. I want them to feel loved, comfortable and safe.
My Project
I need my 3rd-grade students to sit on the floor close to me with their mini whiteboards when I am teaching math. I also need them close to me when I am reading aloud a great story or teaching them about our government, animal adaptations, opinion writing, etc. Every single lesson always starts on the carpet. After the lesson they go to their desk to work as a team of four, with a partner, or independently. However, our classroom is so old that it is not comfortable and kids complain about it. Also, I need to spend time asking them to move closer or further away from each other to avoid problems and this is a problem because every time I stop learning time is being wasted. This new rug will help with this problem because there is a circle where each student can be assigned to. Also, since it is so colorful and beautiful students will not complain about seating in an old rough, uncomfortable carpet. Additionally, when it is time to read a book with a partner, the new rug would be a wonderfully special place to meet with a classmate to enjoy a wonderful book. This new rug will make a great impact in my students learning daily.
