This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The 57 Bus is a text that fits AP Language more than any other non fiction book out there right now. The array of social justice issues from racism, transphobia, poverty, family dynamics, adoption, foster care, and the justice system in America will foster powerful Socratic Discussions, debates, argumentative essays, and a deep dive into our synthesis work using excerpts from Just Mercy, Accountable, The Kalif Browder Case, Reginald Dwayne Betts blackout poetry from his incarceration, and more. Students will be able to use rhetorical appeals, exigence ideas, and consider diction choices while reading and annotating this powerful text.
