This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My diverse group of 2nd graders comes to school so full of life, excitement, and a huge curiosity for learning. They are always looking forward to the next lesson or project we will engage in.

Our school receives Title I funds since most of the students come from low-income households.

My hope is to provide my students with the highest expectations so that they can succeed in their lives, education, and careers. To help me do that, I need resources that these students may not have readily available.

My Project

I am looking to get my students magnetic white boards so that they can use magnetic manipulatives with their partners. This is going to be a project that will be in a few parts. This first project is requesting magnetic white boards and magnetic base ten blocks. If funded, I will further request more manipulatives to further build on this project. The idea is that the students are able to use the white boards for collaboration, brainstorming ideas, and using manipulatives.

There are many ways using magnetic manipulatives will support my students learning.

Manipulatives help make abstract ideas concrete, provides students with hand on experiences, build confidence by allowing students to test and confirm their reasoning, and finally they are a useful problem solving tool.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
