My second grade students are inspirational, creative, and full of the love for learning! They come from all backgrounds of family life. Each day they enter into my classroom, the children bring light, curiosity, and the willingness to learn and to be a part of our community.
The children love to sit together on the rug/floor and share, talk, read, and play.
This is a time to collaborate, participate, and be a part of a group. Second graders are inquisitive and want to express their knowledge too.
My Project
The 9X12 rug that I am requesting will be an amazing addition to our classroom. We have been moved to an older school in our district while our school is being updated. Our second graders are in the basement and may be sitting on cold, broken tile floors for lessons, collaboration, and play.
Many of my students come from families who are hurting financially, socially, and emotionally, so I want these children to be comfortable in school while focusing on the important part of our school day.
We use these meeting places during lessons, collaborating, sharing, reading, and playing. It is important during these years for children to feel like they are part of a group, that they will be listened to, and have a good, clean, safe place to do some independent thinking and reading.
It would be such a blessing to have a nice, clean, comfy rug for my 7 and 8 year olds to sit on this year as well as future students when we get to return to our home school.
