Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a small city in Fairfield County Connecticut. It has a very diverse student population. We have students from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our student body consists of almost one thousand students.
Over 80% of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
As a bilingual School Counselor, I strive to provide a nurturing and caring environment, where my students can feel comfortable and accepted and can thrive and reach their potential. Our students know that they have educators who are invested in their success.
My Project
Being an educator means that we are entrusted with the well being of the whole child. As we teach students the basics of academics, we also teach them life skills such as manners, character building, honesty, integrity, friendship, and more.
Unfortunately, some of our students to not have access to washing machines as needed to maintain a clean wardrobe.
Whether weekly loads cause a financial strain or families do not have access to a washing machine due their living situation, we believe our students should have access to clean clothes every day.
With your help, we will provide the supplies needed so that students may have the opportunity to do laundry at school.
