Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at an independent, public charter school and our students come from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds from all over. Many live in the neighborhood and walk to school with me, but some travel long distances to get here. Ours is a Title I school with a population of mostly English language learners.
My students are truly unique!
I am amazed by these thoughtful, inquisitive students. These young individuals are the most caring and empathetic group of students I have ever taught. They treat each other and themselves with such generosity and respect. They deal with all the different challenges and hardships in their lives with grace and poise. They come to school each day, eager, optimistic, and hopeful about their futures.
My Project
Fostering an environment of cleanliness not only helps us keep our classroom clean, it helps our students learn good hygiene, and how a clean environment helps promote better health and a more productive learning environment, especially in this new age of coronavirus.
We have been so excited to be back in schools together and do not want to go back to distance learning, but since coming back from winter break, many of our sweet peas have been getting sick and missing precious in-person school days.
These cleaning supplies will help us keep our classroom clean and our students healthy. We make sure to always use hand sanitizer when we enter our classroom and before we eat and we use the disinfectant wipes every day to clean our desks, supplies, laptops and all the many other items we share with each other. Now more than ever, it is important to make sure to keep our classrooms clean so that we reduce the chance of spreading our germs to each other. Help keep our sweet peas healthy and in school!
