My third-grade classes are always lively, energetic groups. They thrive on constant movement and the positive atmosphere in my classroom. Albert Einstein once said, "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." This is my aim as a teacher...to channel the joy of my students and promotes a love of learning through compassion, caring, and quality instruction.
Our day begins with Morning Meeting, with students gathered on the rug for community-building exercises.
We learn more about one another, create meaningful relationships, and share our hopes and dreams with our classmates. The classroom works well as a team and the enthusiasm the children display is contagious. It is a pleasure to teach the children in my classroom each day!
My Project
Each year, I strive to have a bright, organized, and tidy classroom for my students. I have purchased individual carpet tiles held together with adhesive for the children to sit on during lessons, group work, and recess. The carpet area has always been a focal point of my classroom. Over the years, the tiles have separated, become stained, and worn from use. I have even gone so far as to purchase a vacuum for my classroom in an attempt to maintain the cleanliness of my existing carpet, but it is a losing battle.
A durable new carpet will be a place for the students to gather for instruction and work with one another.
I am looking forward to having my children enter the classroom in the fall with designated spots to sit in on this new carpet! My students with various special needs, social-emotional issues, and behavioral challenges will benefit greatly from having their own space to learn on the rug.
