My Project

Some of our students at our Title I school enter the classroom facing challenges, such as adverse childhood experiences (ACES) or trauma, which affect their ability to self-regulate and thus learn in the classroom. Self-regulation is the important skill young students need in order to make learning happen (Bodrova, 2005).

The flexible seating in my classroom will be used for a place for students to move and balance—reducing restlessness and improving focus while they learn!

Students would be able to sit in a safe place in my classroom and use these materials to help them learn how to self-regulate through proper modeling. The bands will be used for students to bounce their feet. The wiggle seats will be used for the chairs at the desks. Students will be able to use the bouncy balls to sit at at a horseshoe table and bounce. These items will help with students that need to move during a lesson.
