My Students

This is a very special group of students. They come from many different backgrounds, have different challenges, and many different experiences and hardships. I have learned so much from them. They value their lives and a good education. We are like a family. We laugh, joke, cry, and learn together as a single group. Though it is sometimes challenging with the language barrier, we make it possible to see eye-to-eye.

I strive to create a comfortable, safe, and loving environment for my students.

Without this, my students cannot be themselves nor have a rich learning environment. These kids enter the door each morning, leaving behind different challenges for a day. They're here to learn and to create a better life for themselves. We face challenges during a pandemic that effects our learning, and experience many more challenges. But we stick with it and work together to learn what we need to succeed.

My Project

With the COVID-19 crisis we are in, it's difficult to keep our minds on what makes us happy. These students come in sometimes afraid to attend. With these items, we can work towards our goals and earn a little something to make us happy and forget about the stressful times we live in for just a moment.

Our students need hands-on learning, responsibility of caring for a class pet, and a chance to move and express themselves.

That's why I have put together this larger project, in hopes that it will be funded this year. This project includes so much to keep my students focuses, motivated, and creates more of a loving environment instead of the "stay in your seat" kind of learning experience.

My classroom zoologists have done the research and have decided on getting a hamster. This project includes everything we need, minus the hamster. This would benefit our classroom emotionally more than anything else at the moment. This project also includes games to promote critical thinking, language and speech, and physical activity. We're hoping to start a Dungeons and Dragons club because of the local interest. My class is also obsessed with rocks and fossils. We've read enough about them, and this project would bring them to our classroom with the kits and samples and catch us up with learning loss. Everything else will help us all cope with this COVID crisis we are in, and learn and achieve together. This will be the best year yet!
