Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are living in a low income area where literacy is our focus in order to meet the needs they may not be receiving at home.
My focus is to bring in books that we help them connect with other cultures within the world and the school setting to help them become culturally competent and aware.
My Project
My students will be able to learn about the world around them through the pages of a book. With such as diverse population of children within my classroom setting, I would like to provide books that are culturally diverse and all about being kind to one another.
I would like for my students to be able to explore history, acts of kindness, and cultural awareness by opening a book. An up-to-date library will benefit my students in various ways and allow them to take some home to read over weekends and nights.
