Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year my school opened a Neurodiversity Program to help students receive the supports they need to be successful within the classroom. Since this program is brand new, my students do not have a functional classroom library. My students have varying abilities and having a safe, educational space to practice our reading skills would help them in a variety of ways.

My students would learn and strengthen their skills given the opportunity to have a classroom library by having more exposure to literacy to further develop and strengthen their ELA skills.

Additionally, my students would practice other skills like turn-taking, sharing, making choices among their peers.

The library will promote diversity and inclusivity which is so important! The bookshelf itself will help create and display a classroom library and the bean bag would provide a comfortable seating option to practice their reading skills and independence. It will encourage them to become more confident and independent readers while further developing their overall phonological awareness. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our project.

With Gratitude,

Ms. Rodriguez
