This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are teens who have chosen to work for their high school diploma despite being behind in credits. Many are two or more years behind their cohorts but want to graduate instead of drop out. They come to school and work hard to complete their graduation requirements.

My students are several grades behind in their math skills and struggle with the concepts needed to pass algebra and geometry classes but they refuse to give up.

I work with them individually and in small groups to reinforce basic skills and close the gaps in their education.

My Project

My students need pencils and pens to finish out the year... progress and momentum is lost when a student has to stop to find or borrow something to write with. Somehow, we lose an awesome number of pencils and pens... and they never seem to return to the 'borrow one, return one' cup.

Writing utensils seem to disappear alot, I want to give every student a binder pouch to keep the pencils and pens handy!

We need to have the tools on hand and ready for the student to work each period without the lost time and distraction.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
