Help me give my students each a copy of classic novel, "The Outsiders" to read during remote learning. Also, access to engaging remote learning curriculum and lessons.
My classroom's primary focus is for all of my students to discover a passion and love for reading and writing, while being exposed to a wide variety of literature and literary concepts.
All of my students are passionate young learners who are always looking for a new challenge and learning opportunity.
I currently teach a multitude of different leveled learners from students who are in an inclusion group to students who are reading 8th and 9th grade material. About 70% or more of our school's students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Despite their at-home conditions and lack of resources, all of my students are determined, hard-working, and have integrity. They all strive to do the best that they can. Unfortunately, because of this, they do not have a lot of resources, technology, or books at home, even though they all have such a passion for reading and learning.
My Project
As the start of our school year quickly approaches there is still much work to be done. This year our district has decided to start with remote learning in order to keep everyone safe.
Every year we start 7th grade off by reading the classic novel, "The Outsiders" and this year should be no different!
This project will allow for all of my students to have a copy at home. This is such an amazing text, and it always ropes in even the nonreaders.
My second part of this project is gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers. TPT is an amazing resource that I have used for many years. Teachers from all of the country sell engaging, thoughtful, and curriculum/standards-aligned activities and lessons. With being remote this year and all lessons and activities being converted to digital, new curriculum that is engaging is essential.
