My students need wooden parts and pieces to build a city model. The craft sticks, shapes, model grass, and glue will be used to create replicas of buildings, streets, vehicles, shopping centers, parks, and houses.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students who attend our after school programs come from low income families. They are eager to learn and participate in fun and exciting projects. We live in a rural, low socioeconomic area and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Everyday our kids face incredible challenges at home with which most adults do not contend, yet they come to school ready to be a part of our school community.
They stay late each day to complete homework and receive academic enrichment as well as complete projects of their choice.
My Project
My students are so excited to create a city model with the wooden parts and pieces. They will learn about all of the parts of a city and create replicas of each. They will work as a group to complete this project and will practice patience and teamwork to create their model, using skills like math and reading to follow directions and measure accurately.
Students will be presenting their finished work by participating in a showcase event in the community.
They will be planning and using a timeline to complete the project. The students are very excited to begin this amazing project!
